Here at WCHS, we have used the finer points of athletics as an extension of the classroom, in order to teach our student-athletes the merits of teamwork and friendly competition. This year we will be competing as a full member in the Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA). We will compete in the 1A North division. This division consists of schools with very competitive programs. Our Broncos will be very busy this year! For the 2009-2010 school year, White Cone High will be competing in the following varsity sports: Boys and Girls Cross Country, Volleyball (fall), Boys and Girls Basketball, Wrestling (winter), Softball (spring). As mentioned earlier, we will face some very good competition, and the athletes will get several opportunities to see the beautiful scenery of Northern Arizona as we travel to our away venues. As in the past, we will play all home games at Jeddito Elementary School. Get there early, in order to grab a good seat! In the past, the WCHS staff has stressed the importance of academics to all of our sports and club participants. This year will be no different. All WCHS athletes are students first, and athletes second. For anyone to participate in a sport, he or she has to maintain a passing grade in all of their classes. Failure to do so will result in suspension, and ultimately dismissal, from any team in which they participate. So, to ensure that all students have the opportunity to participate and contribute to something positive, we ask that all parents stress the importance of academics. Finally, in order for students to participate in any sport, they have to have an updated physical. No one will be able to practice or participate in any sport without having taken one. Please get your child’s physical taken care of early, so they can compete on day one of their chosen sport. This is going to be an exciting year for WCHS athletes! Let’s Go Broncos! ![]()
